# Presets

Route requests through stable model aliases to configurable targets

Presets let you give a model a short, reusable name called an **alias** and connect it to the model you want to use.

The target can be a specific model version or an **Auto-Update** model ID. You can also change the target later. Anything that uses the preset alias will follow its target, so you do not need to replace the model ID throughout your application.

{% hint style="info" %}
Presets are managed separately for each project. Project administrators can create, change, and delete them.

## Create a preset

1. Open [**Console > Models**](https://cortecs.ai/userArea/console?tab=models).
2. Under **Model presets**, click **Create preset**.
3. Enter a unique name in **Alias model ID**. The `@` is added for you.
4. Search for and select the **Target model** you want the alias to use.
5. Click **Create**.

The target model list shows the model ID first, followed by its display name. You can choose either:

* An **Auto-Update** target ending in `:latest`, such as `claude-opus-5:latest (Auto-Update: Claude Opus 5.5)`. The preset follows new releases in that model series automatically.
* A specific model ID, such as `gpt-oss-120b (GPT Oss 120b)`. The preset remains on that model until you change it.

For more information about `:latest` model IDs and when to pin a specific version, see [Auto Update](/routing/auto-update.md).

## Use a preset

Click the **Copy** icon next to an alias, then use the copied alias in place as the `model` parameter in your request. Always include the `@` at the beginning.

***

## Change the target model

1. Find the preset you want to change.
2. Search for and select a different target model.
3. Click **Save**.

The alias stays the same. Anything that already uses it will use the newly selected model.

***

## Delete a preset

1. Find the preset you want to remove.
2. Click the **Delete** icon.
3. Confirm the deletion.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Before deleting a preset, make sure the alias is no longer in use. Anything that still uses it will need to be changed to another model or preset.
{% endhint %}
